Easy, no bake, peanut butter bars. They come together quickly with only 5 ingredients and are so addictive!

    stack of peanut butter bars

These bars are a peanut butter and chocolate lover's dream. The bars are similar in flavor to that oh-so-familiar candy bar and are incredibly quick and simple to make.

It's no secret that my family loves peanut butter. We all love it on toast, in sandwiches and in our cookies. Heck, the Sugar Bugs often ask for a "spoon of peanut butter" with their breakfast! I'm pretty sure there are four different variations of peanut butter in my kitchen right now. So these peanut butter bars are always a winner.

I mean peanut butter + chocolate = a match made in heaven, right?

I'll be honest. I cannot make these bars if they don't have a destination. I simply cannot be trusted around them. I joked on Instagram that I was going to call this recipe, "your pants won't fit tomorrow". But that's only if you eat the whole pan. Please tell me I am not alone in my addiction to peanut butter and chocolate treats.

    MAKING THE PEANUT BUTTER BARS

Start by melting your butter and stirring it together with the peanut butter.

Peanut butter in a bowl and butter in a small saucepan
For this recipe you will want to use a traditional peanut butter as a natural peanut butter may separate and make the bars oily.

I find using a wooden spoon or spatula works best for combining the melted butter and peanut butter. You will want to fully incorporate the two ingredients before adding the graham crackers and powdered sugar.

I like to crush the graham crackers in my food processor. {If graham crackers are not readily available, digestive biscuits would be an acceptable replacement} You could also use a zip-top bag and a rolling pin to crush the crackers.

The peanut butter and butter mixture gets shiny and smooth once fully mixed together. Then mix your crushed graham crackers with the powdered sugar and slowly add it to the peanut butter/butter mixture.

Next you will press the mixture into a parchment paper or foil lined 9x13 baking pan. Then chill the pan for about 10-15 minutes.

    Peanut butter bar base layer

As the peanut butter layer is chilling, you can make the chocolate layer. Melt milk chocolate chips with another tablespoon of butter and stir until well combined, then pour over chilled peanut butter layer.

Finally, allow the chocolate layer to harden by chilling in the refrigerator for an hour or two before cutting into bars.

Then savor a couple and send the rest out the door. Or plan on wearing your yoga pants tomorrow! 😂 #sorrynotsorry

    Ingredients

    Peanut Butter Layer

    • 1 ½ cups creamy peanut butter
    • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
    • 1 ¼ cups graham cracker crumbs 1 sleeve – approximately 9 crackers, yields just a little over what’s needed
    • 3 cups powdered sugar

    Chocolate Layer

    • 12 ounces milk chocolate chips
    • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

    Instructions

    • Mix peanut butter and melted butter with a wooden spoon or spatula until well blended.
    • Crush your graham crackers into crumbs (I use my food processor, but you can also crush them in a zip-top bag with a rolling pin). Combine the graham cracker crumbs and powdered sugar and add to the peanut butter mixture. I find it works best to slowly add the dry ingredients into the peanut butter mixture.
    • Once well combined, press the mixture into the bottom of a parchment lined 9x13 pan and chill. You can do this in the freezer or refrigerator.
    • Once the peanut butter layer is no longer warm, make the chocolate layer.
    • Using a double boiler or microwave, melt the chocolate chips and butter together. Stir until well combined and pour over the cooled peanut butter layer.
    • Allow the chocolate layer to harden, cut into desired size bars and enjoy!

    Notes

I recommend using a brand of peanut butter such as Jif or Skippy.
If graham crackers are not available try using digestive biscuits.
Cover leftover bars tightly and refrigerate for up to one week.
