Beat together the butter, kosher salt and sugar until light. Then drizzle in the oil, increase the speed to medium-high and mix for another 1-2 minutes. The cake batter is very fluffy at this point.
Add the half of the egg whites, mixing on medium until incorporated. Then add the second half of the egg whites, sour cream and vanilla extract and beat on medium, until fully combined. The mixture may look a little curdled at this point.
